Damian in the middle of Northfork river. The crash site was on the other side of the river, but we couldn't find a safe way to cross the rapid water. We hiked up the bank to look for a better crossing but the effort was fruitless. Noticing the dimming day light, we decided to give up and use the remaining day light to hike out of the Thoreau Falls trail.
