The remaining section of Thoreau Falls trail was absolutely confusing and difficult to follow. We wandered off trail few times but was able to trace back and found our way. But as soon as the twilight was gone, we're in trouble. Some where before the falls, we lost the trail while crossing a small stream, we looked at the map and decided that we could bushwhack along the river to the falls and eventually we should hit the trail before it crosses North Fork to Ethan Pond Trail.

We arrived at the falls at 5:16 PM. But we couldn't bushwhacked our way up the steep slope and ended up bit the bullet and crossed the river below the falls. Damian took out his compass and led the way northeastward to find Ethan Pond Trail.
