I have been hiking the northern presidential for few years now, most of my hikes were either from the other side of the mountain range or along the ridge.
Everytime when I was up on the ridge looking down into the Great Gulf Wilderness, I was wondering what would it be to be in it. So finally today, I decided to find out.
I arrived at the Great Gulf Trailhead at 7:30 AM, an hour later than I would like to. My initial plan was to go up Great Gulf TR to Madison Gulf TR to Star Lake. Then Descent from Buttress Tr, up Six Husband to Mt Jefferson, and descent from Sphinx TR and Great Gulf.
It would be a long day hike, and my late start already casted a shadow on it...
