Day 1: South Pond to Unknown Pond

We met up at Starr King trailhead parking lot to spot my car there, and drove over to York Pond trailhead to spot Darlene's car. And pile all of us in Jen's car and headed to South Pond trailhead, where we'd begin our journey.

The trailhead located in the South Pond recreation park, the park services are closed for the season, but the lot is still acessable to hikers. We started the hike just before noon. Made our first stop at the Devil's Hopyard, then the beautiful Roger's Ledge and a final long and steep climbed up to the Unkown Pond tentsite. By the time we got there, the temperature was dropping fast and the wind was picking up. There're already 2 other groups at the tentsite, we picked a site that was big enough for all of us to stay close by. Set up tents, started the stoves and in no time we're all bundled up and enjoying our hot meal with some soul warming beverages. A fine way to end a day.
